While the roof may be one of the most important exterior protections that a house has against the forces of nature — such as the blistering heat of the sun, torrential rains, strong winds, hurricanes, blizzards, hailstorms, etc. — it can be one of the most neglected parts of the house. In fact, it’s a common scenario that homeowners forget to inspect the roof for damages and other concerns during their home inspection. While this is not deliberate for the most part, it remains that this oversight can lead to more pressing issues.
For example, a roof can start leaking if the granulation has been left to scrape off too much. It can damage not only your attic but can also cause water stains to appear on the walls and even damage wallpaper and paint. It can also get on the wiring and can cause short-circuiting and even a fire if an exposed wire encounters the leak. These are the scenarios that you’d want to avoid at all costs, which is why a roof inspection should always be done at least twice annually.
Homeowners can opt to check their roofs themselves, but for a thorough investigation and expert diagnosis, a roofing professional should always be called in. Not only are they trained on what to look out for, but they can also give you effective solutions that will get to the root of the problem.

Neptune City was incorporated on October 4, 1881, based on a referendum held on March 19, 1881. The boundaries included all of present-day Neptune, along with what is now Avon-by-the-Sea and the south portion of Bradley Beach. The borough was named for Neptune, the Roman water deity, and its location on the Atlantic Ocean.
